STATEMENT OF NEED
This activity is designed to help clinicians learn how to identify patients in whom preop ECG is worth ordering, per 2007
AHA/ACC Perioperative Cardiac Evaluation guidelines; identify safe ways of providing neuraxial analgesia and
anesthesia in high-risk parturients; and to understand different videolaryngoscopy devices and new risk scoring systems
for assessing the likelihood of difficult bag/mask ventilation and/or laryngoscopy.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Anesthesiologists, hospitalists, intensivists, pain management physicians; CRNAs.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe V5 ECG lead and compare sensitivity and specificity of ECG and echo to detecting heart disease;
  2. Manage hypotension accompanying neuraxial analgesia and anesthesia; and
  3. Predict patients likely to be difficult to intubate and/or ventilate and utilize the tools in the ASA Difficult Airway
    Guidelines to manage these patients.

CREDIT
The Duke University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 22.0 AMA PRA Category 1
