STATEMENT OF NEED
This activity is designed to help clinicians implement changed guidelines which recommend beta blockade less strongly
than before; achieve greater consistency and clarity of pharmaceutical and syringe labeling, in accordance with human
factors; and facilitate the collection of clinical data to improve rather than merely to document a significant dimension of
patient care.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Anesthesiologists, hospitalists, intensivists, pain management physicians; CRNAs.

support of continuing medical education.  Disclosure of the planning committee and faculty’s commercial relationships

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Titrate perioperative beta blockade to reduce heart rate while avoid hypotension;
  2. Properly account for perioperative medications; and
  3. Collect data including but not limited to clinical outcomes data, patient satisfaction and resource utilization.
    Equally important is the collection of demographic data that will permit identification of relationships between
    practice characteristics and clinical care.

The Duke University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 17.0 AMA PRA Category 1

.     Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
