STATEMENT OF NEED This activity is designed to help clinicians learn how to manage patients undergoing complex surgery so as they emerge faster, with less pain, nausea and vomiting, and hasten the return of functional status.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to: 1. Pre-operatively identify high-risk patients, 2. Manage outpatients for surgery with quicker emergence, less pain, and less nausea, and 3. Manage patients undergoing complex procedures.
CREDIT DESIGNATION* The Duke University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 22.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
